This variant is supplied in USP 2 with an extended 90 cm suture length and is fitted with a 1/2 circle blunt tip heavy wire 45 mm needle. Blunt tip needles are designed to separate tissue fibres rather than cut them, significantly reducing the risk of needlestick injury and minimising unintended tissue trauma—particularly beneficial in friable or highly vascular tissue.

The heavy wire needle construction provides increased rigidity and resistance to deflection, enabling controlled penetration and accurate placement through dense tissue. The 45 mm needle size is well suited to deeper operative fields and high-tension closure techniques, while the 1/2 circle curvature ensures balanced rotation and precise handling.

Manufactured from violet braided polyglactin 910, Q-close SYNTH sutures provide excellent visibility, smooth handling, secure knot tying, and consistent tensile strength throughout the absorption period. Absorption is typically completed within approximately 28 days, making these sutures suitable for short- to moderate-term tissue support.
